![]() ![]() All the other DLC are cosmetics at best)State of Decay 2 (Great zombie game, base building is more. Space Engineers (not much in the way of NPCs/badguys, but excellent survival and building bases/spaceships/ground vehicles is awesome)Ĭonan Exiles (get it on sale, skip the isle of siptah expansion. Other games I'd recommend (in no particular order): I've played it off and on since it's "early access" days, and it's definitely a complete game now. It's a different sort of fun to 7 Days, but if you can get it on sale, go for it. Having said all that and answering virtually none of your questions, buy the Forest on sale. I still do it just so I don’t have deer and rabbits crawling out of my ass begging me to shoot them all day long. But, turning the difficulty to max just makes sponges out of them. The combat in the Forest is insanely easy once you figure the natives out. It’s not as deep as 7 in any way, shape, or form except for the graphics, which are superior. The building/crafting in the Forest are crude compared to 7. They’re both similar and wildly different. The Forest was her 1st ever FPS so I encouraged it by playing Forest even when I was dog tired of it) and I have a little under 1,000 in 7. I have a little over 500 hours in the Forest (though I’d honestly have maybe 200 if not for my sis wanting to play. It’s funny you post this as my sister and I recently transitioned from the Forest to 7dtd. You won’t be disappointed for $7.99 or whatever. The Forest is on sale right now, so I honestly might give it a try anyways, but I still wanted to read your opinions on this since I might not necessarily get a good feel for the game right away If you were to provide a similar format (as above description) for The Forest, what would it be? Do you think I would enjoy it? Is there another game I haven't considered? Thank you for any suggestions! I also prefer 3rd person over 1st person, and we would have between 2-5 players I also enjoy cooking all types of meals for my friends, and traveling with our truck/bike to do quests or just exploring I have a lot of fun killing with my silent pistol and sniper, but also bonking zombies on the head. So here's a TL DR of what I love about 7 days: I love running around looting buildings and everything in existence, hoarding everything, and organizing storage. Minecraft & Terraria: Not really the same ballpark but I've still seen recommended, we've played this before and had fun I know we didn't play it very long, but I think it's just not for us, and gameplay perspective (1st/3rd person) is also really important for me Zomboid: We tried this, it felt very meh right away after playing so much 7 days. Only complaint is tedious travel time (some love this, I'm not into sea content) and gameplay (I think I prefer shooter) is a bit too slow paced for me Valhiem: Have played this, 2 different rounds (1 modded) and had a BLAST. Regarding other similar commonly suggested games:Īrk: I've tried it, not too interested in the dinosaur age, and it was okay - not quite what I'm looking for Hoarde night is fun, I'm mainly excited about the exp, but I think I enjoy normal days just running around looting, cooking, building, and questing It really keeps me playing & having goals Skill system - I love how it takes so long to max everything I want. Also, I think the food/hunger system is very reasonable The cooking system - on this round of playing the game (3rd time), I've adapted to becoming the cook and it's extremely fun for me. nothing takes 80 minutes IRL to travel to)Ĭrafting and building system, I also enjoy decorating, but I never want to be the builder/miner of each server Navigation and travel doesn't feel like a chore (i.e. My favorite weapons are pistol, sniper, spear, and sledgehammer I am looking for something that is similar, so with at least guns (melee bonks are fun too). Gameplay is really important to me, and 7 days is fun. Also, I am OBSESSIVE about hoarding & organizing our resources I have the most fun stealth killing with a silent pistol. I could NEVER get bored of running around in all different buildings, looting shit. ![]() The purpose of this post is to see if there's other games that check off boxes of reasons why I love 7 days, and where The Forest stands (I keep seeing it mentioned). I currently have 338 hours in 7 days, and have NEVER gotten bored on any playthrough (currently on 3rd) My only complaints are the optimization/graphics (mainly optimization), wanting more customization, and finding mining boring.
